Remodel ~ Sapphire & diamond dress ring

I often talk about jewellery as wearable memories — each piece carrying emotions and life chapters. Recently, I had the honour of working with Lynette, who approached me with her engagement ring, wanting to create something entirely new that still honoured her past.
The original ring was delicate and sentimental: three blue sapphires and eight small diamonds set in 18ct yellow gold. After the passing of her husband, Lynette wanted a piece that represented the next stage of her life; something beautiful, wearable, and uniquely hers, without feeling like a traditional engagement ring.
We began by exploring the emotions she wanted the ring to convey. Her love for Art Deco’s geometric elegance became our guiding inspiration. This allowed us to reinterpret the original stones into a modern, structured setting that felt distinct from its original form, yet retained the memory and significance of the original ring.
To honour her past, we incorporated all the original sapphires and diamonds. To represent her future we added a couple of pear-shaped sapphires alongside eight new diamonds to bring balance to the design. A mix of new yellow gold and the original metal provided continuity, while allowing us to create a fresh, architectural aesthetic.
The design process was thoughtful and deliberate. Every line, angle, and setting was considered to ensure the ring would feel contemporary while deeply personal. The result is a piece that feels at once bold and delicate — geometric yet organic, holding the memories of the past while marking a new chapter in Lynette’s life.
Jewellery remodelling is about more than style; it’s about transformation, storytelling, and sustainability. By reusing the original stones and metals, we not only honour the sentimental value but also create a piece with lasting emotional and material significance. For Lynette, the new ring is not just an object of beauty — it’s a symbol of resilience, memory, and personal evolution.
Working on this remodel reminded me why I love what I do. Every piece is an opportunity to help someone carry their stories forward in a way that feels true, meaningful, and uniquely theirs. For Lynette, the engagement ring became a personal talisman for the next chapter of her journey — a testament to love remembered and life embraced.
